January 2015 news

Please also check February news.

Month of January made a good start for the new year. The team was busy with updates and upgrades of all products, and also make a few new features which you may see below.

But first, check an important announcement is about security. GHOST vulnerability has been recently made public so please make sure your Linux system is updated. WMSPanel team recommends doing it ASAP, check this instruction: http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/cve-2015-0235-patch-ghost-on-debian-ubuntu-fedora-centos-rhel-linux/

DASH Industry Forum

The biggest news of January is that WMSPanel joined DASH Industry Forum. We are now an associate member of DASH-IF. Our products are capable of MPEG-DASH features and we plan improving this going forward so we hope to make contributions to the community. Read this blog post for details.

Protocols report

Traditionally, take a look at The State of Streaming Protocols for January 2015. Now it has Icecast and MPEG-TS. Nimble Streamer customers use them more and more extensively, especially with the latest Icecast meta tags support, so we'd like to start tracking their dynamics as well.

WMSPanel updates

WMSPanel push API can now be debugged via our test handler and web UI. If your existing handler doesn't get the data you need, you may use ours to check. Read this article for details.

WMSPanel customers may allow their end-users to have control over pull API. They may re-generate their API key and control allow list.

WMSPanel data slices may now have names or regular expressions for VHosts and domain names. Read updated data slices description article and streamed data slice blog post.
Also, check this digest forum post which describes data slices' general usage.
